As part of our growth strategy we are looking to expand our busy and growing Construction & Engineering team and require a solicitor between 2 – 4 years PQE (applicants either side of that bracket will be considered depending upon experience). Should the ideal candidate wish to work part-time hours, we would be happy to discuss a working arrangement that would meet their personal needs as well as the requirements of the role.
The successful candidate will undertake a broad range of both contentious and non-contentious work from different sectors and clients including employers, contractors, sub-contractors and lenders. This will include drafting, negotiating and advising upon building contracts, professional appointments, sub-contracts and associated bonds and warranties. The successful candidate will also provide support to our wider Real Estate team on development and construction matters and act for clients in contentious matters including adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
You will be working alongside and assisting a Partner but you will run your own caseload and be encouraged to develop a leading role in business development. In this role you will need to demonstrate the ability to work under time pressure and to exacting client demands.
Requirements
Experience and a proven track record of running a case load and experience of business development is essential. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and ambitious and will be able to demonstrate an ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines. Good communication skills are essential as is managing expectations across a wide range of competing needs and a willingness to cover a variety of tasks.

Newly-qualified lawyers must have undertaken a seat in either Banking law or in a Finance-related area of law and have a genuine desire to specialise in Banking.
Good communication and IT skills are essential as is managing expectations across a wide range of competing needs. Attention to detail, a good work ethic and a willingness to cover a variety of tasks and work outside core hours on occasion will be necessary. DescriptionA rare opening in our specialist catastrophic insurance department which arises as part of our strategy for organic growth. We are looking for a leading Defendant lawyer with an established reputation of acting for UK insurers in multi-million pound road traffic personal injury claims.
This is a senior position with the opportunity for partnership.
A key component of the job is to work with our current Head of Insurance to assist in the continued growth of the insurance practice to nurture longstanding existing relationships and to develop new insurance connections.
The role encompasses day to day handling of catastrophic cases as well as operating within the department and firm at a senior executive level.
The successful candidate will have a track record in the UK motor insurance market and preferably an insurance client following.
The candidate must have experience of working collaboratively with senior members of large loss technical teams including head of claims. They should have strong technical skills developed through successfully defending motor claims involving brain injury, spinal cord and amputation. They will also have good experience of acting against and working with the Claimant lawyers who regularly practice in this area such as Irwin Mitchell, Stewarts and Slater & Gordon.
The role will involve assisting and overseeing the work of the department as a whole alongside existing partners.

Solicitor/Associate Neurotrauma – Claimant Personal Injury, Sintons LLP

DescriptionWe have a key vacancy for a Solicitor / Associate to work in the expanding Neurotrauma team in our Claimant Personal Injury department. The successful candidate will work in the Neurotrauma team dealing with cases involving serious neurological injury.
Key aspects of the role include:
• Independently, and as part of a team, handling neurotrauma injury claims, both pre-litigation and litigated cases
• Undertaking liability investigations
• Quantum investigations (including review of medical, therapy, employment and case management documentation, obtaining medical and other expert evidence, and special damages calculations), drafting Schedules of Loss.
• Applying a proactive approach on a case by case basis to achieve the very best outcome for the client, and to ensure that Court timetables are complied with
• Promoting the firm, and particularly the neurotrauma team, externally, by attending events, developing positive relationships with potential work-referrers, and supporting the business development and profile-raising strategy and activities of the neurotrauma team.

Requirements
The prospective applicant should be have experience of working on cases involving complex and high-value personal injury claims, specifically brain or spinal cord injury claims. The applicant should be familiar with the CPR and will be required to be familiar with medical issues relevant to serious neurological injury claims, a significant body of relevant case law, and complex quantum calculations (including use of Ogden tables).
Any applicant should have the ability to familiarise themselves with large quantities of documentation and information, often within the confines of strict Court timetables.
The successful candidate will have the interpersonal skills to deal with professional intermediaries and have an established network of those people working within the neurotrauma field. The candidate will also be comfortable dealing with third party solicitors and the Courts, and will be expected to participate in attending client events and other activities to create, maintain and build upon positive external relationships. A willingness to work unsocial hours including travel and staying out of the area from time to time is essential for this role.
Flexibility, team-work, enthusiasm and complete commitment to clients are essential characteristics of the ideal candidate.
